Design of new personal safety equipment

We are pleased to have been involved in the design of a new item of personal safety equipment for Swedish based company SenTAG. The company is preparing to launch a new device aimed at reducing the number of people who drown in municipal swimming pools each year. The technology has been under development for some time, and can detect when someone is in difficulty through the analysis of their movement and position in the pool.

Crucible have been working with SenTAG for several months, developing a new wristband that contains the transmitter. The wristband has to be as small as possible, easy to fit and remove, and capable of being fitted with an external RFID chip for tag identification.

The tag has been through several rounds of concept design, prototyping and testing, and is now nearing completion. It is considerably smaller than the previous transmitter used by SenTAG and very easy to put on and take off due to the use of silicone tubing for the strap.

The tooling and production of the casing parts has been undertaken by Plunkett Associates.
