Makielab dolls joint development
Makielab produce fantastic customised dolls using 3D printing. They approached Crucible for help with the early models when the leg and arm joints started working loose after some time. We used our experience of 3D printing and mechanical design to develop an ingenious solution to their problem!
Services delivered:
- Analysis of the problem, caused by the limits of accuracy and repeatability in 3D printing
- Development of a range of alternatives and accelerated test rigs
- Prototyping of the eventual solution and simulated long term testing
- Delivery of final data for production to Makielabs
"Crucible’s innovation was in removing the small but critical variable tolerances on the weight-bearing joints and thus improving their stamina with sustained use. We’re very happy with the results of the work Crucible undertook"
