Sentag swimming safety system
The Sentag safety system protects people swimming by sensing a combination of depth and lack of movement, which sends an alert to a wall mounted display. Crucible helped Swedish-based Sentag develop both the wristband and the wall unit. The wristband was particularly challenging, as it had to be as small as possible, but extremely robust and capable of being used by any age group.
After several prototype stages, we developed a two part system that locks onto a range of flexible wristbands and enables the pressure sensor to accurately measure the depth that the band is being used at.
This project was an excellent example of cooperation with other companies, with the electronics being developed by Circad, and the plastic moulding being prototyped and manufactured by Plunkett Associates.
