Product design that delivers new markets

Product design is normally seen as a means of making something look better, be easier to use and possibly less expensive to make. But it can also help create entirely new markets by exploiting opportunities to diversify a client's expertise and technology.

The Kitlock 1000 project was a great example of a design review that resulted in the creation of not only an extremely successful product, but an entirely new brand and market. The commercial benefits of this project for the parent company has been considerable.  As Grant MacDonald, the MD of Codelocks put it: 

“We had a good idea that the Cabinet Lock was going to be a successful product and are delighted to have been proved correct. It has opened up a large and very significant market place for us with sales growing month on month.” He continues, “We can comfortably attribute a significant part of the success of the cabinet lock to Crucible's involvement. The design is not only stylish; it is very easy to use and to fit.”
